Julie Chrisley’s Resentencing: A Legal Twist
In June 2024, a federal appeals court discovered a legal mistake in the calculation of Julie Chrisley’s sentence, leading to a resentencing hearing. Despite hopes for a downsized sentence, the judge upheld the initial 84-month (7-year) sentence in September 2024.
Julie publicly apologized at some stage in the hearing, expressing remorse for her acts and the effect on her circle of relatives. Additionally, her supervised release period was multiplied from 3 to 5 years, a change later mentioned as a judicial error by federal prosecutors.
Current Status and Release Dates
As of May 2025, Todd Chrisley is serving his sentence with a projected release date on April 7, 2032. Whereas, Julie Chrisley, despite her resentencing complaints, stays on track for release on Jan 8, 2028. The couple’s daughter, Savannah Chrisley, has been vocal about her parents’ situation, labeling the felony results as injustices and advocating for their release.
Savannah has taken the case of her parents to the top and appealed to the present president, Donald Trump, for a pardon on her parents’ behalf. She even spoke at the Republican National Convention in July 2025 to claim their cause.
As of this date, Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley are completing their punishment in their respective prisons.
Family Dynamics Amid Imprisonment
The Chrisley family’s dynamics had been substantially stricken by Todd and Julie’s imprisonment. Savannah has taken on the duty of worrying for her younger siblings, Grayson and Chloe. She has expressed the emotional toll of missing major family occasions and believes that reintegration after her dad and mom’s release will require in-depth therapy to deal with unresolved issues.
Looking Ahead
The Chrisleys plan to appeal their convictions, with their legal team focusing on challenging aspects of the original trial. Meanwhile, the family remains looking forward to a positive outcome and eventual reunification.
